Every stone is checked before it is listed, and the evidence is published so you never have to take our word for it. Here is each step, and what you can verify yourself.

Step 01
The dealer uploads the certificate
A licensed dealer uploads the laboratory's report for the stone. We fingerprint the file with SHA-256, check that fingerprint against every report already on the platform, and store it in write-once storage with ten-year retention.
The fingerprint is what makes a re-used report obvious. The same file cannot be filed twice.
Step 02
We extract and cross-check
The report is parsed and every stated figure — weight, dimensions, species, treatment — is compared against what the dealer entered. A disagreement stops the listing before it is ever public.
A mismatch is not assumed to be dishonest. It is sent back to the dealer to resolve.
Step 03
Photographs are fingerprinted
Every photograph gets a perceptual hash, so the same picture cannot quietly appear under two different stones. Dealer photographs are shown unretouched.
Perceptual hashing currently matches identical images. Near-duplicate detection is not live yet.
Step 04
A reviewer approves, then Jathi signs
A person reviews the result and, if it holds up, the record is signed with Jathi's Ed25519 key. That signature is Jathi's own — it is what "Jathi-signed" means, and it is not a laboratory's signature or anyone else's.
Jathi signs the record it checked. It does not certify the stone itself; a laboratory does that.
Step 05
Anyone can check it, anywhere
The public key, the canonical record and the signature are all published. You can verify a listing on the page, or take the three values and check them with any tool you trust, without asking us anything.
If our check and yours disagree, believe yours and tell us.
Step 06
Every handover is recorded
Each time the stone changes hands, an entry is added carrying the hash of the entry before it. Editing any past entry breaks every link after it, which is what makes a quiet change visible.
This makes an edit detectable. It does not make the record unchangeable — that is a different claim, and not one we make.

Entry 02's record no longer matches its stored hash, so nothing after it can be confirmed.verify_chain()

This shows that editing a past entry is detectable. It is not a claim that the record cannot be edited — a database writer could rewrite every row and recompute the whole chain.

And payment?That's yours.

Jathi does not hold funds and takes no cut. You agree terms with the dealer and settle directly, however suits you both.

Bank transfer: Agreed between you and the dealer, in either direction.
International wire: The usual route for buyers outside Sri Lanka.
In person, Colombo: Many dealers will meet, and prefer to.
